M2 Animation Group A/S is enhancing its proven expertise in long-format animation by welcoming Mikkel Weider, the former CEO of Nordisk Games, to its Board of Directors. This move reinforces M2 Animation's longstanding commitment to transforming game IPs into captivating animated content, a natural evolution of its business.
Since its inception in 2001, M2 Animation has been a pioneer in producing high-quality animations, ranging from commercials and mini-movies to globally acclaimed TV series for major brands like LEGO, Apple+, Disney, NBC/Universal, and Warhammer. The studio's history in creating engaging long-format shows sets a solid foundation for this new chapter.
Mikkel Weider's rich background in game development, strategic investments, and mergers and acquisitions is invaluable to M2 Animation's ongoing journey. "Mikkel's expertise in global game IPs and his deep understanding of the gaming industry fit perfectly with our strategy to develop game universes into animated series and movies," said Mads Munk, founder of M2 Animation.
This strategy builds on M2 Animation's established track record in long-format productions. "Our history of creating award-winning TV shows gives us a strong base to bring game IPs to life for longer formats. Utilizing the Unreal pipeline for TV shows like Warhammer 'Pariah Nexus' allowed us to push the boundaries of long-format animation, maintaining our high-quality standards," Munk added.
The collaboration with game industry partners is crucial for M2 Animation's expanded focus. "We see a great opportunity in game IPs. We're eager to work with our partners to create animated stories that are both true to the original games and offer new experiences that the fans will appreciate and love," Munk explained.
With Mikkel Weider on board, M2 Animation is set to leverage its rich history in animation and new insights from the gaming world to create unique, immersive animated experiences for a global audience.
"We are excited about our future," concluded Munk. "With our strong background in animation and Mikkel's expertise in gaming, we're ready to bring something truly special to fans around the world."
